COUNTERBALANCE TRUCK OPERATOR COURSES - FORKLIFT TRUCK TRAINING
The Health & Safety at Work Act, states that “All employers must ensure that Fork Lift Operators are adequately trained”.
McCarthy & Associates Ltd offer Fork Lift Operator Courses delivered by fully accredited instructors, on clients premises.
COURSE OBJECTIVE
This Practical course, undertaken on your premises, using your own equipment is for operators who have little or no experience.
This course is approved by the Road Transport Industry Training Board (RTITB) and fully complies with the Approved Code of Practice for the Training of Fork Lift Operators (April 1998).
Who Should Attend
All Personnel required to operate Counterbalance Lift Trucks.
PRIOR KNOWLEDGE
An awareness of Health & Safety issues would be an advantage but not essential.
DURATION AND COST
3 to 5 days depending on the experience of the candidate, the number of candidates and the ratio of candidates / machines per instructor

Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations. ( PUWER )
Lift Operations and Lift Equipment Regulations. ( LOLER )
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974.
Other current relevant regulations.
Introduction to machine.
Pre – Shift Inspections.
Controls & Instruments.
Components and main types of lift trucks.
Re-Fuelling systems & Battery care.
Coolant, fuel and lubrication systems.
Emergency controls.
Manoeuvre the fork lift both with and without a load.
Manoeuvre in confined areas using forward and reverse direction, both with and without a load.
Set up fork lift in order to lift various loads.
Lift various loads within the full working range of the forklift.
Ensure load integrity and security.
Transport loads
Place and retrieve loads accurately at various places.
Place and retrieve loads from a vehicle bed or trailer.
Practical and Theoretical delegate assessment.
Delegates who successfully complete the course will receive a R.T.I.T.B Counterbalance Lift Truck Operators Certificate.
